Terms of use and privacy

The service
Family Waypoint is a family organiser: calendar, school runs, chores, meals and shopping. It is used by families who have created a home in the app. These terms and this privacy policy cover the app at familywaypoint.com, Google sign-in and Calendar, and the connected-car features.
Connected cars
A family can connect its own cars through its own Home Assistant installation (for example the Volvo, Tesla or Renault integrations). When a car is connected, Family Waypoint uses:
- climate start and stop, to pre-heat the car before a planned drive (only for the car that the driver of that drive uses);
- battery or fuel level, lock and door status, and the outside temperature, shown in the family's own view and used to skip pre-heating on a low battery;
- the car's location, only to tell whether the car is at home.
Car data is shown only to the members of the family that connected the car. It is never sold, shared with other families or third parties, or used for advertising. Only the latest values are read; no driving history is stored.
Google sign-in and Google Calendar
You can sign in with Google, and a parent can connect a Google Calendar. When you connect a calendar, Family Waypoint asks for:
- your calendar list (calendar.calendarlist.readonly), so you can choose which calendars to show in the family calendar;
- events in the calendars you choose (calendar.events), to show them in the family calendar, on the family's wall display and in reminders, and to add or remove events in your Google Calendar when you create, change or delete them in Family Waypoint;
- your name and e-mail address (openid, email), to know which account the calendar belongs to.
Calendar data is shown only to the members of your own family, and you choose per calendar whether others see the details or only that you are busy. It is stored in the EU to keep the family calendar up to date and is removed when you disconnect the calendar or delete your home. We never sell it, use it for advertising, transfer it to others (except as needed to run the service), or let people read it except to fix a problem you ask about, for security or when the law requires it. Calendar data is not used to train AI models.
Family Waypoint's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can remove Family Waypoint's access at any time in Household › Calendars or at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Your data
We store what the family enters (members, events, chores, meals, shopping) to provide the service. Data is stored in the EU (Stockholm). A parent can remove a car, disconnect Home Assistant or leave and delete the home at any time; access to the car can also be withdrawn in the car maker's own account settings.
Responsibility
Pre-heating and reminders are a convenience. The driver is always responsible for the car and its use. The service is provided as is, without guarantees that every automation runs on time.
Cookies and measurement
Sign-in and your settings (language, theme, cookie choice) are stored in your browser because the service needs them. On the public site we count visits ourselves without cookies and without storing anything on your device: each visit is counted together with where it came from (for example an ad or a search engine), the type of device and country. To tell visitors apart within one day we use a scrambled code made from the IP address and browser together with a secret that changes every day; it cannot be traced back to you and is deleted after two days (legitimate interest, GDPR art. 6.1 f). Inside the app we count how often each view is opened per day, without linking it to a person.
Only if you say yes in the cookie banner do we load Google Analytics (statistics) and Meta Pixel or Google Ads (marketing) to see whether our ads lead to new accounts. They never receive names, e-mail addresses, children's details or anything you enter in the app. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the start page. Feedback you send through "Feedback" in the app, including any screenshot, is read only by us to improve the service.

Ansvar
Förvärmning och påminnelser är en bekvämlighet. Föraren ansvarar alltid för bilen. Tjänsten tillhandahålls i befintligt skick.
